This book does a good job of sharing more of his knowledge on the ...

I worked with Tilo Linz in my capacity as the Chair of the ISTQB Foundation Extension Agile Tester Working Group. He clearly knows a lot about this topic, some of which he shared in the portion of the Agile Foundation Extension syllabus that he co-wrote.

This book does a good job of sharing more of his knowledge on the topic. I particularly like the use of a running case study, the eHome project, to illustrate concepts. The thorough coverage of unit and integration testing is excellent, particularly the detailed discussion of integration testing, a test level which is often under-utilized. Concise but complete code samples with ample explanation make these concepts very clear, unlike the enigmatic and free-floating code samples found in some books.

This book would be a good complement to Cripsin and Gregory's book on agile testing. It fills a lot of the gaps that exist in that book in terms of technical and managerial details.

My only quibble about this book--and this is why I gave it a 4 not a 5--is that the rear cover contains a claim that it is a prep book for the Agile Foundation Extension exam. I did read it as part of preparing for that exam. (Yes, even us authors of the syllabus have to take the ISTQB exams.) It covers a lot of topics that aren't in the syllabus and thus aren't on that exam, which is fine: more information is always good. However, it doesn't adequately cover some topics that are on the syllabus and thus the exam, such as the testing pyramid, the testing quadrants, and Acceptance Test Driven Development. This book would be a useful complement to a two-day training course as part of preparing for the exam and learning the important topics of agile testing, but as a stand-alone resource for exam preparation it isn't enough.

Beyond that nit, a good book. If you don't care about the ISTQB Agile Foundation Extension exam, or if you plan to prepare for the exam using other resources, this is certainly worth reading.

Hello! I'm glad you are looking at The COACH Model for Christian Leaders. This book is the result of a long journey. It started as a frustrated team leader, moved to theological insights, then onto how I viewed other people, and ended in a new approach to leading.

The lessons learned are told through stories and illustrations with the goal of helping readers to improve how they lead and communicate with others. Since, 2004 my colleagues and I have taught these principles in workshops around the world, to people living in 70 countries. Please join me on a journey of discovery, engaging with people in new ways to solve problems, reach goals, and develop new capacities. I look forward to hearing your stories.

A Must Read for Anyone Who Wants to Be More Effective in Coaching.

I have read a number of books on Coaching and I must say that Keith Webb's book "The COACH Model for Christian Leaders" is one of the best books on the market to give you an excellent framework to get started in coaching, or if you are already actively coaching, it will sharpen your skills at connecting and helping others move forward.

Keith takes his years of ministry experience, leadership and coaching and wraps them together in this book. The model Keith has developed (C.O.A.C.H.)will give anyone who coaches in ministry or in the market place, a clear road map to becoming a more effective coach. Keith's five step process is so valuable that I typically keep a copy of his C.O.A.C.H. Model wheel(see front cover of book)on my notepad to refer to and guide me to the next needed steps during a coaching appointment. A quote from the first chapter drew me in..."Coaches empower people to think more deeply, tap into the broad resources that surround them, and make their own informed decisions. Insightful & Practical. The Next "How to Win Friends and Influence People"!

The best ministry training I've ever experienced has been turned into this short and readable book (and I'm a Bible School graduate who has read a lot of books and works in a Christian training center!).

The tools for having deeper and more focused conversations (formal and informal) with discovery of insights and take away application are all in this book!

The reader can learn to have sharper meetings, more transformational conversations, and more effective small groups thanks to this highly-practical COACH Model.

Advertisement Cloaked as an Investment Book

Like many epub books, this book is mainly about getting you to the authors other books or other services. Indeed, every chapter contains multiple plugs for something else the author is engaged in.

The content is also repetitive. I don't mean that the same idea is discussed, but rather the exact same paragraphs; not just within a chapter, but from chapter to chapter. Ditto for the examples the author cites. There are only 3 to 4 examples that the author repeatedly brings up to make a given point. I don't know if this is just lazy writing/research or the author generalizing from a tiny sample.

Ultimately, the authors thesis is that if you want to buy a stock with the potential to increase dramatically in price don't buy an established company because they won't have the earnings growth. I had to chuckle at that because in reminded of what Gerald Loeb wrote in the 1930s: "The important point is that size and success are not a hindrance to continued success as many inexperienced investors are inclined to think. [...] It is far easier for the strong to grow stronger than for the weak to acquire strength." Ivanov also ignores the fact that most start ups won't be around in ten years. Indeed, looking at the IPO list for just this past year reveals five companies that are no longer listed on any exchange. Perhaps he attempts to overcome this by recommending to buy only on 52 week highs, but a top was also once the 52 week high.

This isn't a book containing sage advice, but rather you buying an advertisement for the authors other stuff.

I wonder how this book works for people who know very little about metabolism

I was introduced to the At a Glance series by reading Immunology at a Glance. I had never comprehended immunology -- the immune system --- in any kind of comprehensive way; it's complicated and the Book is always some five hundred page tome. I read every page of Immunology at a Glance and I can say that I'm pretty sure that I got it. So later I bought Metabolism at a Glance, even though I don't need any introduction or any help with intermediary metabolism. So I was actually disappointed with the At a Glance metabolism book, BUT, I have a feeling that the situation would be entirely different for a person who desperately needs an introduction to this intricate, highly conceptual subject. Let me put it this way --- I had always told people who ask, that pathways of metabolism are akin to looking at a map of the subway, say the New York City subway. I even have such a map, framed, and it hangs next to the eight foot by three foot Biochemical Pathways chart in my hallway. So here, in the Metabolism at a Glance book, is a portion of the map of the London Tube!!! Must be a good book, eh? Indeed, it is. I can tell. I hope it elucidates the subject for you, if you are a beginner; a student; or if you have always found metabolism to be hard to follow, this will help.

Amazing Resource for Grad Students Too

I bought "Metabolism at a Glance" 3 weeks ago off amazon.com because I was doing poorly in my inborn errors of metabolism class for grad school. I did not have a very clear understanding of biochemistry from my undergraduate courses, but have learned about many of the pathways. I have never loved a textbook as much as I do, Metabolism at a Glance. I love the choice to make the book large so that pathways are clear. I love the simple explanations of metabolic disorders that include treatment and the graphics on the pathway and enzymes highlighted in red. And most of all I love the author's metaphor of thinking of the pathways like a subway map. I was getting too caught up in trying to remember all of the enzymes and connecting pathways. Now, I am focusing on which enzymes I need to know and it makes so much more sense and is actually interesting to learn about.

This is a brief, yet comprehensive book on metabolism! As a genetic counseling graduate student it has been a wonderful resource to supplement (read replace) my huge 400 page book on inborn errors of metabolism. My grades have significantly improved and my time spent studying has decreased since using this book.

Excellent, Concise, and Thorough!

This large format book reveiws basic metabolism in an easy to understand manner. Specific segments of the metabolic pathway are summarized within two pages. Each face-page gives an overview of the entire metabolic pathway, with an outline of the specific topic discussed within that section. Far easier to comprehend than the metabolic pathways as described in those well known Biochemistry tomes, where the entire metabolic pathway is spread over 100 or so pages!
