This book is good, except the solutions are not provided in the back of the book. You will have to hope your teacher provides them to you. It is a fairly easy read, but the explanations for example questions could be more fleshed out (in my opinion).

Previous text was Simon Benninga's Principles of Finance w/Excel (extremely helpful w/ templates & great practice exercises). This text provides a better overview of Finance in full context (helped explain "missing pieces"). Would highly recommend to Finance student as companion to Benninga's text.

This is a deck designed to be used by B.O.T.A. students for their spiritual development. Part of the process requires that the student color their own deck. Therefore, these cards are not colored, or intended for use in divination. They are intended to be used with B.O.T.A. instructions. These instructions are now available in Paul Foster Case's books here on Amazon or from B.O.T.A. in a personalized course.

About the Author

Paul Jenkins is an architect by initial training, expanding this to work in urban planning, housing policy and a wide range of social research related to the built environment. His career has included extensive experience working with communities in the UK and overseas in Sub-Saharan Africa. He directs the Centre for Environment and Human Settlements (CEHS) research group at the School of the Built Environment, Heriot-Watt University and is Research Professor at the School of Architecture in Edinburgh College of Art.

Leslie Forsyth is an architect, planner and urban designer with experience in practice, consultancy, education and research in the UK and Germany. He currently is Head of the School of Architecture at Edinburgh College of Art where he also coordinates the postgraduate programmes in Urban Design.

Good book for Japanese History

It is definitely a good book if you are interested in Japanese History. It is a bit dry of course because it is all documents, but it is ratehr interesting to read the language they used back then and the social settings they presented.

The Book is a great collection of articles for the avid historian of Japanese history, or perhaps the struggling college student. The book is well-compiled and thurough. A very good refrence for information on the Tokugawa Era.

Elegant Integration of Real Options and Complexity Thinking

This is an important book. John Holland, who is heavily referenced, foreshadowed its publication when he linked the concepts of real options and complex adaptive systems in a talk at the Santa Fe Institute in late 1998.
The authors clearly and persuasively explain how modular design adds a tremendous amount of value through the creation of real options. Furthermore, modularity allows for the evolution of both design and industry.
In the 1960's, IBM created the System/360, the first modular family of computers. As a result, IBM launched an industry -- and lost control over the tremendous value it stimulated.
"Design Rules" was recommended me by one of the authors' colleagues, who thought that I'd "eat it up." I did, and I'm hungry for Volume 2.

Disappointing edition

One has to wonder if the other reviewers either didn't actually use this book or if they work for Barron's because this book is a very sloppy effort and should be an embarrassment to Barron's, especially the chief editor, Nathan Quinones. To begin with, anyone using previous editions of this book will notice that almost all of the errors remain in the book. Misspelling, misplaced accents, they're all still exactly where they were in previous editions of this book.

The CDs are especially a disappointment. Only 14 of the 31 chapters are recorded and do not have the conversational exercises in Part Four (the CD's are far from being filled to their 80 minute capacity). The story introductions are not recorded on the CDs, just the story dialogues, and Lesson 3 was omitted altogether. Additionally, the stories are not translated in the answer portion of the manual which significantly reduces the value of this book for self-study.

Nevertheless, with a good classroom instructor to guide the student through this book's many landmines, it can serve as a decent introduction to Spanish but lacks the perfection necessary to serve as a self-study book.

great format -- tons of typos

I have been using this book and find the format helpful. However, I have come across numerous errors/typos, which can be confusing for a beginning language student. Additionally, the CDs included with the book do not match the lessons. It is almost as if the CDs were made for an earlier edition and never updated.
